Stressors of Life
The American economy is in one of the worst economic slumps since the Great Depression in 1929. Our pocket books are tightly bound, only to be used for writing checks to credit card and mortgage companies. With all this madness, everyone’s stress level has reached an all time high. In fact, the World Health Organization proclaims that over the next twenty years, our world will be much more depressed and stressed. There’s no way around it- the current economy is hurting us physically and mentally now, and in the long run. Chronic pain caused by Fibromyalgia is becoming more and more common, Arthritis has disabled millions of worn out workers, and cold and flu season has literally crippled countless Americans. The causes of all these aches and pains can in part be attributed to high stress levels, lack of sleep, and most importantly, being overworked. Solutions for these problems are limited; however recently, spa companies are teaming up with doctors of alternative medicine so they can begin making an impact on the lives of many people who suffer from these undesirable conditions.
New age medicine claims hydrotherapy, the use of water to heal aches and pains, is the newest trend amongst the young and old. According to a well known website for alternative medicine, “Hydrotherapy and hydrothermal therapy invigorates the body, it stimulates digestion, circulation, and the immune system and lessens pain. Water therapy helps you to get rid of stress, anxiety, tension; besides it rejuvenates the human body providing it with energy,” (Another Medicine).Without some kind of help to lessen depression pains, or stress pains, what else can we do? Many people who take over the counter medicine to alleviate anxiety and stress commonly face side effects or in extreme situations, dependency. Alternative medicine is allowing people with these issues to get rid of their pain a more natural way. By soaking in a spa or bath for more than twenty minutes a day, your body will naturally release endorphins. Endorphins are known as “natural healers” that can help ease pain organically. With this option, work-a-holics, parents, and anyone else affected by the current economy might have a chance at making their depression and anxiety lessen.
Now this is a very important piece of this specific theme. To pursue this option of using hydrotherapy to minimize all kinds of stress levels in your life, consider the following. Soaking in a bathtub versus soaking in a spa is extremely different. Although soaking in a bathtub will help you relax with warm water, soaking in a spa with jets will help you relax and allow you to relieve pressure points that make your body physically hurt. These pressure points are what cause fatigue or serious pain when moving or working. Whirlpool effects also help give your body a weightless feeling that opens up blood vessels and relaxes your entire body. Unfortunately bathtubs don’t have the same effect as a spa with jets. Owning a spa might be limited for some, but for others, this might be just the trick to solving your sleepless nights, as well as your aches and pains. Many companies are coming out with better ways to stretch your dollar. Be aware-you CAN get a good deal on a spa and the products that go with it! Look for a company that strives to manufacture eco friendly, affordable products, particularly ones that don’t raise your energy bills. There are products like this out there! Thinking green in this economy is a must, but thinking about what’s best for you and your family is even more important. Make sure to check out every option before allowing yourself to live through another day of stress and depression.

Anyone with fibromyalgia have these type headaches? I get these horrible migraines that deaden one side of my face. It looks like I've had a stroke, seriously. I've had all the MRI's and tests, and I was diagnosed with cluster headaches, which the doctor said is a fancy way of saying they don't know what causes them. My problem is I get these 'muscle knots' starting at my hairline and they go in a straight line to the crown of my head. I swear, if I were bald I'd look like one of those Klingons on Star Trek. I also developed one to the side of my usual 'ridge', and the 2 fibro pressure points on the back of my head also have them now. They feel like bruises- I can't even brush my hair. I'm on muscle relaxers which seem to help (mostly because they just knock me out) but there's not really anything else they can do. I was told yesterday by my specialist it was the way my muscles and nerves work around my face and it was part of the fibro. Does anyone else experience anything like this? Does anything work that won't knock me out?
Rheumatoid Depression Fibromyalgia pressure points. Fibromyalgia pressure points. August 10th, 2011. Fibromyalgia is a syndrome a limited whip-round of symptoms presumed to have a stock cause.
Yes, I’ve had the same thing for years. I currently take epidural steroid injections in my neck and lower back to control the pain. That being said, your doctor should know about new meds out there that can control fibromyalgia symptoms. I know that nothing works for headaches and the head pain associated with it. I’ven't tried any of the new meds, I just get the injections. I can't say for sure whether they’ll work for everyone. Nothing else works for me. But I’ve all kinds of back problems and soft tissue issues, that’s another reason I get the injections. Sometimes a cold pack works on the back of my neck. I really think Fibromyalgia needs a cure and soon. This pain is the same as cancer sufferers, and those with MS, and other serious diseases. There are 2 fibromyalgia websites to check out if you haven't already. Maybe they can help you. And Hope you find something that can help you. Good Luck !
I’ve Lupus. My Doctor diagnosed me w/ fibromyalgia ALSO. WHY? I’ve had SLE (lupus) for one year now and have been treated with cellcept and prednisone. At my last Dr. Appt., my doctor diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. She did no tests or anything. How does she know? I played football for six years(many injuries)–I know I’ve a high pain tolerance. ****She said that because my joints weren’t swollen, I must be amplifying the pain!!***–(amplified pain is the definition of fibromyalgia-you interpret pain as being worse than a normal person) I’m really angry that my doctor would tell me that I'm just complaining–she's always telling me to tell her all my symptoms. IS SHE CORRECT TO GIVE ME THIS NEW DIAGNOSIS ON TOP OF MY PREVIOUS DIAGNOSIS OF LUPUS???????

Fibromyalgia often occurs in overlap with lupus. They’re both autoimmune. Fibro is usually diagnosed by having pain on symmetrical pressure points in the body. If you want to know how you doctor knows, ask the doctor. We don't know what your doctor was thinking or how the diagnosis was made. If you don't trust your doctor, get one you can trust. Lupus is too serious to be treated by a doctor with whom you don’t have an open and honest relationship. We dont' know if she was right because we don't know your symptoms and we don't know what information she used to make that diagnosis.
